Nando’s – Resturant Review

Nando’s, I’m sure you have heard of it if you live in the UK. I’m writing a review because I was there for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn’t at all what I was expecting, in a good way.  So I had to write about it in case you’re like me, live near one and never go in thinking you know what it’s about.

The setup – You get a table, choose your meal, go to the counter, order and pay (great for when you are with a group, no bills to divide).  Then you get your drinks from the machine (free refills on soft drinks), choose your salad dressing, sauces and head back to your table.

I went to the Nando’s at Mile End in particular, this location is a large bright restaurant, over 2 floors.  The staff were friendly and helpful and our meal arrived quickly, though I wasn’t there at a particularly busy time.

The food was so much better than I was expecting.  I had the medium wings, a mixed leaf salad, and the house red wine.  The wings were flame grilled and cooked perfectly, just enough char to know it was grilled on an open flame and give it that extra bit of extra flavour. The medium PERi-PERi was flavourful, hot enough to give it some kick while allowing the PERi-PERi flavours to come through.  The salad was fresh, crisp and mixed well and the house dressing complimented it perfectly.

You can tell that Nando’s sources their food carefully, and keeps the quality of the ingredients high. This is why I am so impressed with Nando’s, such great food at such high quality and the prices are still so reasonable. It is definatly great value for money and I look forward to going back.
