As you can probably tell I am a big fan of Radisson properties, especially the Radisson BLU hotels in Europe. I like the modern style of the rooms, and the amenities they offer. During my trip to Amsterdam this past New Years Eve I stayed at the Radisson Blu Amsterdam.
The hotel is located about a 10/15 minute walk from the train station and pretty much in the middle of everything, making life as a tourist easy. The hotel is divided between 2 buildings, across the road from each other, connected via a walkway under the road which works out to be quite convenient. In the main building is the reception area, bar, and restaurant while in the 2nd building there are conference and meeting rooms as well as the gym facilities .
The room I stayed in at the Radisson BLU Amsterdam was a business class room, located in the building across the road from the main building. The business class room is very stylish, light and airy with high ceilings and a very comfortable bed. The room was well laid out with lots of storage for clothes and luggage so it can all be tucked out-of-the-way. All the amenities one could want are at hand such as a hairdryer, safe, a mini bar with space for personal use (nice touch), bathrobes, wi-fi and my favourite the Nespresso coffee machine. Oh and did I mention, the bathroom floor is heated, ahhhh.
Breakfast is in the restaurant in the main building and is buffet style with hot and cold options. There is a large variety to choose from so finding something good (and healthy if you want), shouldn’t be a problem. As I was on vacation I went for breakfast on the later side, as it seem so did everyone else, so there was a short wait for a table and the restaurant was a bit crowded. Having said that the staff kept all the food well stocked and made sure everyone who sat down had a tea or coffee within minutes.
I love that the desk light plays reference to the Red Light district which is only a few minutes walk away, but a whole other world away. (Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the photos to see the short video I’ve made of the room).
