I recently had the pleasure of breakfast and tour of the newly open Thompson Hotel, Belgraves London. Belgraves London is located in the heart of Belgravia tucked away, yet very convenient to everything. Walking into the hotel immediately you have the feeling you are in for something a little different. The lobby area is comfortable with a real New York chic late 60’s feel to it, yet it still feels modern.
My visit started with breakfast in the restaurant, Hix. I had a scrumptious waffle with Crème fraîche and blueberries on top. Hix is off of the lobby and fits in well with the feel of the hotel, and it’s a lovely place to have breakfast, with big windows making it a nice bright place to start the day.
This luxury hotel’s interior was designed by Tara Bernerd, she has designed the hotel in a way that it’s a space that is welcoming, comfortable, yet stylish in an imaginative original way that keeps you wondering what will be around the next corner.
I viewed 4 of the room types from the starting category room to a suite which had its own balconies of the bedroom area, very nice. My favourite was the room which had the tub with a view, in the premium room. However even the starting off category room is perfectly formed with the attention to detail shown in the rest of the hotel.
The public areas are open and welcoming, with comfortable seating and lots of areas to gathering for a coffee, or a drink or two. I look forward to stopping by the hotel again in the evening to see the bar, complete with an outdoor oasis, in full swing.
When I left the Belgraves Hotel and stepped back out on to the side-walk I was surprised to find myself still in London after having, for the past couple hours, been taken into a world that felt so much more New York. If you are looking for a great place to stay in London Belgraves should be high on your list (and for the next little while the opening specials make it a steal).
